The history of the San Pedro hacienda coffee dates back to the end of the 19th century when a 13-year-old Spanish boy arrived on the shores of Puerto Rico with a single suitcase and a thousand dreams. Emeterio Atienza was an excellent worker who in a very short time rose to the position of foreman and then foreman of one of the most prestigious coffee farms in Puerto Rico. In addition to working the land, Emeterio worked as an agriculture teacher, earning the respect of other coffee growers for his wisdom, perseverance, and kind heart. In the year 1930 and one after years of hard work and constant dedication, Don Emeterio finally managed to buy his own Hacienda San Pedro. Every morning at dawn he would go out on horseback with his seven children to tour the farm to check the blossoming of the coffee trees, inspecting them one by one. Each coffee tree had its own name, a tradition that was continued by his youngest son Alberto and still practiced to this day by his grandson Roberto Atienza, honoring a long family tradition that spans four generations of the Atienza family.

Hacienda San Pedro coffee is still cultivated, picked by hand and made with the same artisanal care that was done in the time of Don Emeterio, even the coffee is dried in old drums that have been on the farm for more than 100 years. . The love and respect that Don Roberto feels for this coffee is so great that during the critical hours of coffee drying, he spends sleepless nights next to the drums, just like his grandfather did, waiting for the coffee to be ready to be
Discharged. They say that Don Roberto's ear is so tuned that even asleep he wakes up when he hears the sound that emerges from the perfectly dried coffee. For Roberto Atienza, personally taking care of the details is fulfilling his grandfather's dream, bringing the best coffee in Puerto Rico to the world. Perhaps for this reason, relatives and neighbors have been heard to say that sometimes at dawn he sits hanging around the farm on horseback. along a road that reaches the foothills of the Tres Picachos the distant murmur of a happy voice that is singing and they know that Don Emeterio goes there with great pride.
