Red tea and green tea: differences and similarities
The first thing to know is that all teas are diuretics, which makes both green tea and red tea have slimming properties.
However, they differ in the production process, which means that each variety has certain particularities to take into account.
When making green tea, the young leaves are picked and are not subjected to any fermentation process, but are oxidized naturally.
Since there is no chemical transformation, green tea contains catechins and polyphenols, antioxidant substances that, in addition to delaying cellular aging, accelerate metabolism and, consequently, help you lose weight.
However, in the case of red tea, there is a fermentation process that can last months or years and, unlike what happens with wine, the more it ferments, the more the flavor will soften, giving it that characteristic flavor and aroma.
This chemical process that pu-erh red tea undergoes reduces LDL (bad) cholesterol and increases HDL (good) cholesterol, which helps reduce cardiovascular risk and decrease the accumulation of fat in the body.
Ultimately, the difference between these two varieties of tea lies in the process that each of them follows to help you lose weight, both being good options as a complement to weight loss diets.
However, it should be noted that the process of making Chinese red tea increases the amount of theine or caffeine, causing a somewhat more marked diuretic effect compared to green tea.
The choice of one or the other will depend on individual needs, and it is most advisable to combine both.
How to take green tea to burn fat? And what about red tea?
In general, it is recommended not to drink more than three cups of tea a day and without sugar so that the properties are not lost.
Considering that pu erh red tea contains more mg of caffeine compared to green tea, it is more appropriate for mornings, while green tea is better for afternoons.
Chinese red tea can be taken on an empty stomach, combined with orange and lemon if you want to enhance the slimming effects while cleansing the body in depth.
It is recommended to drink the second and third cups of green tea twenty minutes after lunch or dinner in order to aid digestion and burn fat.
Ginger and turmeric are a good combination that enhances the digestive properties of tea, complementing them with enormous benefits for the immune system.
